The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
