The is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
